Saturday 20th Apr 2024

This week North Wales Police will be launching a joint campaign with Arriva Buses to raise awareness of Disability Hate Crime.

As part of Hate Crime Awareness week Arriva will display a Police Poster on all their buses within North Wales.

The poster highlights the importance of reporting Disability Hate Crime, as well as sending a clear message to perpetrators of Hate Crime that this will not be tolerated.

North Wales Police are encouraging people to support the campaign by using the hash tag #StopHateOnMyBus.

Greg George, Head of Diversity for North Wales Police said: “We have seen an increase in Disability Hate Crime reported to North Wales Police over the last 5 years.

“We want to continue to raise the profile of Disability Hate Crime and are working with Arriva on this campaign to send a clear message to the community.

“We are also keen to ensure potential perpetrators understand that this type of crime is unacceptable. We welcome community members to use the hash tag #StopHateOnMyBus to support this campaign, and to help raise its profile to as many people across North Wales”.

Anthony Holyfield, Operational Manager for North Wales said: “Arriva Buses, in partnership with North Wales Police are really pleased to support this campaign to raise awareness of Disability Hate Crime.

“It is important that people feel safe travelling on our buses and we send a clear message to perpetrators of Hate Crime that this will not be tolerated”.
