A recruitment workshop is being arranged for those interested in working in social care in Denbighshire.

The event will take place at Dolwen, Denbigh on Tuesday, October 29th between 10am and 2pm will provide information about working in the care profession and the opportunities currently available at Dolwen and Cysgod y Gaer (Corwen) and will provide an opportunity for people to be assessed / interviewed for the posts.

Councillor Bobby Feeley, Cabinet Lead Member for Well-being and Independence, said: “This is a great opportunity to find out more about working in the care profession.

“We have people from all walks of life working for us and working in care is such a rewarding career. Our staff make such a positive difference to older people’s lives every single day and we are looking for people who have a caring nature, love working with people and have plenty of compassion and empathy.

“Successful applicants will be offered extensive support, training and mentoring, and this workshop is a great way of finding out more about the profession and seeing what’s on offer”.

Gaynor Roberts, who works at Cysgod y Gaer previously worked as a psychiatric nurse and in the army before working in social care. She said: “The main attributes are to actually care and to have a lot of common sense. These ladies and gents we care for have got history. I think the least they deserve in their twilight years is to have the best care possible”.

Les Hollis works at Dolwen. He said: “I’d like to think that I make a positive contribution. I’d like  to think that I make a difference. When I started work in care, I made a conscious decision that everybody I come across during my working day, at some stage in that day will laugh, will smile and so far I haven’t been disappointed”.

Kayleigh Jones Williams works at Cysgod y Gaer, said: “There was a job that was advertised local to me at Cysgod y Gaer. I didn’t think that I’d like it as much as I did. I ended up really enjoying the job. Every day is different. It’s nice to know that you’re helping individuals every day, making a difference to their lives. The people we care for are always thankful for our care.  There are also lots of opportunities for training on the job and I’m doing my Level 3 now in senior care. Go for it.
