Gift Of Quilts For Library Babies
Thursday 28th Mar 2024
Talented quilters have made and gifted small quilts for Ruthin Library to use when babies come for the weekly Bookstart baby rhymetime sessions. The beautiful colourful quilts are used as floor mats for the babies to lie on. Members of the group came to the library recently to present the quilts and to see them being used by the babies.
Bethan Hughes, Principal Librarian said, “When the Bookstart Team decided that we needed mats for our baby sessions, we approached a group of skilled quilters in Ruthin and asked if they’d be able to help us. They were delighted and in just a few months produced 20 stunning little quilts. Thanks to their talent and generosity, babies in Ruthin have beautiful quilts to lie on in the rhymetime sessions. We are very grateful for this kind gift.”
The free Bookstart baby rhymetimes take place on Monday mornings in term-time at 11am and new families are welcome. There are similar sessions for babies and for toddlers in most libraries in Denbighshire. The bilingual sessions introduce parents to songs, rhymes and books to share with their little ones, to support their development, and give the adults a chance to make friends with other new parents.
