Friday 29th Mar 2024

Two women have been seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Abergele this morning (Monday, February 24th).

Shortly after 11am police were notified of a collision involving a white coloured Mercedes Sprinter Van and two female pedestrians on Market Street.

Both women were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance where they remain with serious, life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The area was quite busy around the time of the collision so we are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or anybody who may have been travelling and who may have dash cam to come forward.”

The 60-year-old male driver of the van failed the roadside drugs test after testing positive for cocaine. He has since been released under investigation whilst officers await the result of further tests.

Anybody with information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat quoting reference number Y026431.
