Fire In A Property In Trearddur Bay

Saturday 20th Apr 2024

Three fire crews were called to a property fire in Isallt Lodges, Trearddur Bay at 2.14am this morning. The occupants, who were a man and women with their young child, were extremely fortunate on this occasion as the property had no working some alarms.

The Incident Commander, Mike Plant, said: “The occupants were extremely fortunate that one of the residents was awoken by a baby monitor, which was designed to make a beeping sound in the event of loss of power. The father then smelled smoke and soon realised that the external fuse box was well alight and fire was spreading to the flat. He then evacuated his family and raised the alarm.

“I cannot stress highly enough how fortunate this young family were on this occasion, and urge everyone to ensure that they have working smoke alarms, and regularly test them to ensure that they are working.

“Please help us to reduce demand during this time. Three crews were required at this incident and if a smoke alarm had been installed the fire could have been detected and extinguished much earlier.”
