Denbighshire Leisure Shows Ongoing Support For Nhs By Lighting Up Landmarks Every Thursday Evening

Denbighshire Leisure has vowed to light the Rhyl Sky tower and Rhyl Pavilion in blue every week of the Covid-19 pandemic in support of the hardworking NHS staff working to keep the public safe and well.

Both locations will be lit up in blue at 8pm every Thursday evening for the foreseeable future, following the start of the tribute last week which saw both locations turned blue to honour those working on the front line during this world-wide crisis.

The ‘Clap for Carers’ campaign shows members of the public all coming together to clap in their front gardens and other buildings across the UK turning blue including Wembley Arch, the Principality Stadium, the Royal Albert Hall and Lincoln Cathedral. This tribute is part of the #lightitblue campaign which has been organised by members of the events and entertainment industry to say thank you to our frontline workers.

The organisers of the campaign which was organised online said they decided to stage this nation-wide ‘clap’ because "during these unprecedented times they (NHS staff) need to know we are grateful".

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “We’re living in unprecedented times and we wanted to show our gratitude to those members of the public who are working on the front line. This isn’t a ‘one off’ tribute and we thought it only right to carry this on until after Covid-19 ends.

“Many of our staff have family in the NHS and front line services and we thought it was only right to honour them and thank them for their hard work by lighting up Rhyl Pavilion and Sky Tower in blue. While this is only a small gesture compared to the amazing work they are undertaking, we hope this goes some way to show that we are right behind them and cannot thank them enough.
