The competition to create a poster to say ‘Diolch Heddlu Gogledd Cymru for keeping us safe during the past few months has come to an end. Menter Iaith Bangor Chair, John Wynn Jones, explains: “A lot of children in the Bangor and Bethesda area were very successful in creating creative and colourful posters.

We’re glad to announce that Councillor Rheinallt Puw and Mayor of Bangor, John Wyn Williams decided that Elain Owen of Llanllechid and Honey Jones of Maesgeirchen were worthy winners. Well done both of you! Thank you very much to each child and parent that made an effort to draw a poster and compete. The posters are brilliant and there are budding artists amongst you, without a doubt.”

Temporary Chief Superintendent, Simon Williams from North Wales Police said: “On behalf of North Wales Police I’d like to thank each and every one of the contestants for creating thoughtful and brilliant posters. We love to see and receive messages of support from the public and we hope that Honey and Elain will enjoy their prizes.”

Both girls will receive a voucher to use at Partneriaeth Ogwen bookshop and a playmobil police car from North Wales Police.

Derfel Owen, Elain’s father, said after hearing the result: “She is thrilled to bits. It’s good news because my sister is a police officer for North Wales Police, so it means a lot to Elain.”

Honey was also thrilled to have won, according to her aunt Alison Clarke.

It’s possible to see all competing posters on Menter Iaith Bangor’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/menteriaithbangor/ - follow the account for a variety of activities and events for children.
