Murder Investigation Launched On Anglesey

Thursday 25th Apr 2024

Detectives from North Wales Police have set up an ‘incident room’ at Llangefni Police Station following the tragic death of a 58 year old well-known local male.

DCI Brian Kearney, stated: “Between 10-11am on Tuesday  17 November 2020, a 58 year old local male was badly assaulted in the Thomas Street / Mount Pleasant area of Holyhead.

From enquiries to date, we have established that the victim managed to walk the short distance down Thomas Street past the Cenotaph to his partner’s address near Holborn Road, Holyhead.

Shortly after the assault, the victim was taken by emergency ambulance to Ysbyty Gwynedd and transferred later that evening to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical teams he tragically died last night, Thursday November 19 2020 with his family by his side. The victim’s family are obviously deeply traumatised and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. I would request that their privacy is respected at this tragic time.

I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this assault or saw a male unsteady on his feet between Holborn Road, Victoria Road and Thomas Street between 1000-1100hrs on Tuesday the 17th of November 2020 or has any other relevant information in relation to this murder enquiry to contact North Wales Police.

Anglesey remains one of the safest communities in the UK, due to the help we receive from our community in such serious crime investigations. I would like to reiterate, that if you have any information whatsoever, please come forward and assist us. We are very grateful to those who have already come forward and supported the investigation.
