Road Resurfacing: A547 Conway Road, Colwyn Bay

Saturday 20th Apr 2024

Work starts: 9 March 2021
Work finishes: 20 March 2021

We are pleased to let you know that we have prioritised Conway Road for road surface improvements.

What is happening?
We are resurfacing Conway Road from West End roundabout to the A55 slip road traffic lights at junction 21.
The road will be closed for some of this work, between approximately 6pm and 1am. Please follow the signed diversion.

Will it affect parking?
Yes - there will be no parking on Conway Road while we do this work.

Covid-19
Our contractor will comply with current Covid-19 guidelines. Please respect the 2m social distancing rule and do not approach the workforce.

What is resurfacing?
We resurface a road when the surface layer can no longer be maintained.
Step 1 - remove the existing surface (this is called planing)
Step 2 – Adjust or replace the ironwork, manholes & drainage gullies
Step 3 - clean the surface with a mechanical sweeper
Step 4 - lay a bond coating, to make sure the new surface sticks
Step 5 - lay the new surface
Step 6 - compact and level the new surface with rollers
Step 7 - repaint the road markings

Resurfacing is a noisy and dusty process, and we are sorry for the inconvenience this might cause. The new road surface will provide a smoother, quieter ride and will be a long lasting benefit to the community.
