Council 'binfrastructure' Ready For Holiday Season

To prepare for the busy spring and summer period across Conwy county, we are making it even easier for people to get rid of their litter responsibly.

The improvements include:

In total, these bins give us an extra 34,400 litres capacity for litter, about the size of 200 bath tubs.

Did you know? We have about 1200 public bins across Conwy county.

As well as installing bigger bins, we’re also increasing our staff for litter picking, bin emptying and removing flytipping.

We’ve hired 5 more litter pickers to work at hotspots including West Shore, Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy Quay, Abergele, Pensarn, Towyn and Kinmel Bay, extra to our usual staff working at Llandudno and Colwyn Bay.

We’ve got more staff in Betws Y Coed, Llanrwst and Capel Curig and 2 extra members of staff dedicated to the Great Orme Country Park, working 7 days a week.

Staff will be working from 7am to 8pm every day of the week to empty bins and pick up litter along the coast from Kinmel Bay to Llanfairfechan.

To support this work, we’ve added another refuse truck and a cage vehicle, each with a two person crew, to allow us to empty bins more frequently and clear fly tipping.

We all have our part to play in keeping Conwy beautiful. When you’re out and about, please remember to find a litter bin or take your rubbish home with you. If a litter bin is full and waiting to be emptied, please use another bin nearby.
