The Great Orme Tramway Community Weekend

The Great Orme Tramway Community Weekend

Friday 19th Apr 2024

Next weekend, The Great Orme Tramway will be holding its Community Weekend event, with half-price tickets to thank local residents for their support.

Residents of Conwy County will have the opportunity to ride the Tramway for half price when visiting the attraction on 29 and 30 October.

In 2022, The Great Orme Tramway celebrated its 120th anniversary. Opened in 1902, it is Britain's only cable-hauled tramway that travels on public roads, transporting passengers up the Great Orme. It even remained operational during Second World War.

Every year, the Tramway carries approximately 200,000 passengers to the summit of the Great Orme, which stands at 679 feet. Once at the top, there's plenty to do, whether you're interested in history, nature, family activities, or simply taking in the stunning view of Snowdonia.

The Great Orme Country Park has the Visitor Centre and plenty of walking trails. There is a play area at the summit and the Great Orme Mines by the Halfway Station remain open until 30 October. This Community Weekend there will also be a Spooky Spotters Guide activity to celebrate Halloween.

Luke, the Tramway Manager, said “Community Weekend is a way to thank local people for their support and reconnect with locals that have not visited for a while. I even know people who live minutes away who have never been on The Great Orme Tramway.”

“We hope that people will take this opportunity to visit this unique attraction in our own back yard. We are looking forward to welcoming local residents, and offering the community an experience where they can sit back and enjoy the scenery.”

Return tickets for next weekend’s promotion will be £4.25 for adults and £3.00 for children aged 3 to 16. Children under three travel free.

Residents should bring proof of their address in Conwy County to be eligible for the offer.

The Tramway is open from 10am until 5pm, with the last return tram departing at 4:20pm.
