Prosecutions For Overweight Vehicles

Two prosecutions for overweight vehicles were heard at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court this week (7 May).

The cases were brought following an operation carried out between North Wales Police, Denbighshire Trading Standards and Conwy Trading Standards on 11 February 2019

Mr David Hulme, Flat 1, 14 Mostyn Road, Colwyn Bay, LL29 8PB was found guilty in his absence of driving a vehicle that was in excess of its gross maximum weight. The gross maximum weight was 3500kg but the vehicle was found to be weighing 4240kg, which was 740kg overloaded (21.14%).

Mr Hulme was fined £577.00, ordered to pay £550.00 costs, and a victim surcharge of £30.00.

Mr Scott Barker, 14 Roseview Crescent, Kinmel Bay, LL18 5BY was also found guilty in his absence of driving a vehicle that was in excess of its gross maximum weight and maximum rear axle weight. The gross maximum weight was 3400kg but the vehicle was found to be weighing 4140kg, which was 740kg overloaded (21.76%).

Mr Baker was fined £1,622.00, ordered to pay £550.00 costs, and a victim surcharge of £145.00.
