Footpath Remains Closed

Footpath Remains Closed

Saturday 20th Apr 2024

The footpath through Bodlondeb Park, which runs alongside the new Culture Centre site, will remain closed until the building has been completed.

The footpath is closed for longer than originally planned because the contractors encountered extended root systems for the three Scots Pines by the path.

After getting advice from the Authority’s tree officer, a retaining wall has been built to protect the trees; and it has been agreed to keep the footpath closed until the end of the project to make sure public safety, and safe working practices, are maintained.

Pedestrian access to Bodlondeb Park, Bodlondeb Woods and the Council Offices is via the path at the bottom of Town Ditch Road, or by using the main entrance on Bangor Road.

Construction work is scheduled to be completed in September. The fit-out will then take place (i.e. bookshelves, library furniture, exhibition area and café area). The library service can then start moving their stock into the building, with the aim of opening the library and café to the public before the end of the year.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the footpath closure.
