Road Closure: Dolwen Road (b5383)

Tuesday 23rd Apr 2024

Road closed: Dolwen Road (B5383)

Closed from: 8:00 Wednesday 10 July 2019

Reopening: 17:00 Saturday 13 July 2019

We are pleased to let you know that the Council has prioritised Dolwen Road for road surface improvements.

What is happening?

We will be doing repair work to the road, to prepare for road surface dressing.

The road will be closed from the beginning of the 60mph speed limit outside Old Colwyn to the junction with the B5381 to Bryn y Maen. There will be a signed diversion route in place.

The new road surface dressing work will take place from 16 August. The road will not be closed for this work.

What is road surface dressing?

First we spray bitumen binder (a sticky tar-like substance) on a road surface, then spread stone chippings on top. After this the surface is rolled to push the stones in, but some loose stones will stay on the top. Vehicles driving over the new road surface will push these in to finish the surface. We will then sweep the area after several days to clear up any loose stones.
