The team behind Café R in Ruthin are delighted that the venue been shortlisted for a prestigious Welsh café industry award.
Café R is one of the 10 establishments shortlisted in the Best Visitors Café in the first ever Welsh Café Awards, being held in Cardiff on July 23. The awards have been set up to recognise the commitment and dedication of hard working businesses and individuals within the café sector in Wales.
Located as part of the Ruthin Craft Centre complex, Café R was taken over by Denbighshire County Council in 2016 and has become a firm favourite meeting place for locals, tourists, cycle clubs and coach tours. Café R works in partnership with the Craft Centre, employing local staff and supporting local suppliers to produce quality homemade food.
Councillor Bobby Feeley, Cabinet Lead Member for Well-being and Independence, said: “The fact that Café R has made the shortlist after being nominated by customers is a true reflection of how the café is recognised as a focal point for the local community. Many visitors and residents return time and time again for the relaxed café atmosphere, the tasty lunches and the renowned Sunday lunch.
“We pride ourselves for providing great food at affordable prices and the feedback and support from the local community has been fantastic. Being shortlisted is an honour in itself and will help raise the profile of Café R as a great destination. Fingers crossed that we will be successful on the evening.
