Britannia Bridge Collision: Appeal

Britannia Bridge Collision: Appeal

Friday 19th Apr 2024

Officers are appealing for witnesses, and in particular, anybody with dash cam, following a collision on the Britannia Bridge this morning (Thursday, July 11th).

Shortly before 11am officers were notified of a two-vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 involving a silver coloured Honda Civic and a HGV.

The female driver of the Honda was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with minor injuries.

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit is keen to hear from anybody who may have been travelling on the bridge at the time of the collision to contact officers. He said: “We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to the collision to come forward. We also request that anybody who has dash cam footage to contact us to assist with our investigation.

“I would like to thank the travelling public for their patience as this incident caused significant disruption in the area. The high volume of traffic for the time of day, coupled with ongoing nearby roadworks meant that significant delays were caused in and around the Menai Bridge, Llanfairpwll, Bangor and surrounding areas.”

Anybody who can assist the ongoing investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number X097143.
