The cream of Conwy’s nightlife were honoured at an awards ceremony on Monday 25 November as the winners were announced in the regional Best Bar None Awards.

Best Bar None is an accreditation scheme supported by the Home Office and the drinks industry, aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.

A total of 33 pubs, bars and leisure venues in the region are part of the scheme and they each completed rigorous assessments earlier in the year to demonstrate they meet the high standards of premises management required by the Best Bar None scheme.

26 premises have attained gold level accreditation, 2 silver accreditation and 1 bronze level. A further 4 premises are awaiting accreditation.

The awards ceremony was held at Golden Sands Holiday Park where the Overall Winner prize was presented to Club 147, Llandudno.

Other category awards were presented to:

Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regulatory said: "I would like to congratulate all the category winners and this year's Overall Winner for achieving such high standards. They are all thoroughly deserving of their award and their participation in the BBN scheme has contributed to a significant reduction in alcohol-related disorder, boosting the county’s day and night-time economy."

Samantha Jones, Local Scheme Coordinator said: “We are really pleased that more venues than ever in Conwy County have been successful in gaining the Best Bar None accreditation. It’s good for the area, showing that the licensed venues take safety seriously.”

Vice Chairman for National Best Bar None, Robert Humphreys said: “I would like to thank all those schemes that took the time to enter the awards this year. It is always encouraging to read about the different initiatives our members are developing in order to make the local community a safer place, and I am pleased and proud that we are able to recognise and reward the best of those.

A raffle and auction was also held on the night which raised over £2,300 in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care.
