Woman Who Drove Over 130mph Is Given A Suspended Sentence

A woman who drove at over 130mph whilst being pursued by officers has been given a suspended sentence and disqualified from driving for 18 months..
21-year-old Naffisa Hussain of Hawkshaw Bank Road, Blackburn, Lancashire appeared before Mold Crown Court today after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
On Wednesday 25th September 2019 an officer from the Roads Policing Unit was on duty on the A55 in the Llanddulas area when he saw a car driving at speed.
He caught up with the Volkswagen Passat, being driven by Hussain, which was weaving between lane one and two at excess speed.
The officer illuminated the blue lights to stop the car but Hussain failed to stop and a pursuit began near to the St Asaph Business Park.
The Passat then came off the A55 at St Asaph at speeds in excess of 100mph and travelled around the roundabout and then got back on the eastbound carriageway accelerating at speeds up to 132mph before the pursuit was discontinued due to safety reasons.
Soon afterwards the car was located on ANPR travelling along the A470 and a firearms unit which was nearby has caught up with the car and once again it failed to stop.
A stinger was deployed in Llanrwst and the Passat successfully stung.
Hussain was located nearby and was arrested.
PC Dan Darbey of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Hussain showed a complete disregard for the lives of others and it is a miracle that nobody was injured or killed due to her manner of driving that night.
“It’s astounding that rather than stopping for police when requested, some place more emphasis on evading officers than thinking about the serious harm they could cause themselves and other road users.
“This case should serve as a warning to anyone who thinks it’s ok to flout motoring laws. Those who do should know that we will bring them before the courts.”
