What is road surface dressing?
First we spray bitumen binder (a sticky tar-like substance) on a road surface, then spread stone chippings on top.

After this the surface is rolled to push the stones in, but some loose stones will stay on the top. Vehicles driving over the new road surface will push these in to finish the surface.

Please take care when you drive over the road and follow the speed limit signs.

We recommend that cyclists and motorcyclists take particular care.

About a week later, we add a binder coat to seal the surface, before repainting the road markings.

We will then give the road a final sweep after a few weeks to clear up any loose stones.
