Council Supports Conwy Company Chemsol Cymru Whilst They Step Up Their Supply During Covid-19 Crisis

Conwy County Borough Council is providing an industrial unit, which is currently unoccupied until its new tenant moves in, for a temporary storage facility for a local manufacturer diversifying their product line to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Chemsol Cymru, which manufactures cleaning chemicals, already occupies a Council unit on the Morfa Conwy Business Park in Conwy. Like many companies, Chemsol has responded to the Coronavirus pandemic by diversifying into new production for things that are needed during the current crisis. Chemsol utilised some of their existing workforce to setup a production line for hand sanitiser, supplying directly to front line workers including NHS, Police, Fire Service and care facilities.
Nick Lewis from Chemsol said, “We were able to quickly adapt a new production line for producing this new product. Our existing warehouse and unit wasn’t able to accommodate the extra storage and packing that we needed. We therefore approached the Council to see if they have any storage space available.”
Conwy County Borough Council was able to respond to the company’s need and has been able to offer them the use of a currently unoccupied unit on one of its sites for a temporary period until the new tenant moves in, to enable to the company to facilitate this extra production.
Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development said, “We were pleased that we could help the company out with this short term need and it’s one of the ways that we’ve been able to react during the current crisis. The unit was going to be unoccupied for a short period of time until the new tenants move in, but now will fulfil an important need in the current circumstances.”
